Official: Phil Foden Signs Six Year Extension With Man City
Updated: Sep 19, 2021
He's one of our own and he will be wearing the Sky Blue until at least 2027.
Phil Foden and Manchester City have come to an agreement on a 6 year contract extension that will see his weekly wages take a massive jump from £40k per week to £150k per week. It's hard to argue that the raise isn't deserved following the 21 year old's mesmerizing performances last season. He'll be expected to be a key player once again this season, a difference maker in the biggest matches.
The contract extension isn't just a massive achievement for Foden, but also City's academy. City's spending has been talked about ad nauseam in recent years, and the result of that spending has been two top class international players at every position.
For a local academy lad such as Foden to not only work his way into the first team, but become a key figure in it is truly impressive.
Foden just recently returned to training following a foot injury he suffered at EURO 2020. He should be available off the bench this weekend for Pep Guardiola's side.
Will we finally get to see Foden, De Bruyne, and Grealish all get to link up in the same team?
