Man City in open race to sign Nuno Mendes this summer
In a turn of events, it looks like Manchester City could switch some of their attention from a striker to a left-back.

Manchester City have previously been linked to Nuno Mendes and Sporting have been willing to sell the left-back but Man City have been seemingly unwilling to pay the 70 million euro release clause even though Sporting are willing to bring it down to 55 million euros, as per Rudy Galetti.
Most reliable transfer source, Fabrizio Romano confirmed Manchester City's interest in Nuno Mendes but stated that the City board have 'no intention' of paying €50 million for the left-back. Sporting are not accepting any proposal around €30m, as of today - this is presumably what City offered. Though, Romano did say that the race is still 'open'.

Man City's reluctance to agree a fee for Nuno Mendes suggests that a left-back isn't their priority. What is a well-known priority for City is a striker or Jack Grealish and it could be an interesting few weeks to decide how Man City develop their interest into an official bid and possibly a signing.
