Liam Delap set to move to Stoke City on loan!
Recently, the news has come out that Liam Delap, star of the EDS, will move to Stoke City on loan for the season ahead! The loan deal would last just for this season, it has been rumoured that there will be a clause in his contract that says he has to start a certain amount of games throughout the season.
Liam's father, Rory, famously played for the Potters between 2006 and 2013, with him becoming a cult hero rapidly due to his long throws that earned Stoke so many points in those years.
Last season, Liam Delap scored 24 goals in 22 PL2 games for the EDS team, and scored for Pep Guardiola's first team in a Carabao Cup fixture against Bournemouth, with City fans getting very excited about the young striker!
Delap is thought to be very highly rated amongst City coaches, and could well have a future in the first team, especially if this loan spell in the Championship, which, according to Football League World, Stoke are 'Increasingly confident' of securing.
Stoke finished 14th last season, but new additions to the squad including Ben Wilmot, Mario Vrancic and of course City ace Liam Delap, could mean the club's ambitions are set much higher for this season!
Some Many City fans have said they believe Delap's departure could suggest a move for another number nine, which could be an exciting prospect, although there is an opinion amongst some supporters that believe Delap would benefit from staying at the club and learning from the more experienced members of the squad, which would then see Delap follow a path into Guardiola's squad, and who knows how far up the pecking order after that!
With this being Delap's first season of senior football, I personally will be keeping a very close eye on Liam's journey and progress!
