Exclusive: James McAtee Hopes for New Contract and Subsequent Loan Move
City Chief has learned that City's starlet James McAtee is keen on signing a new contract with the blues.
The youngster is said to be hoping to sign a new contract, and then head out on loan! Although no club was mentioned as to any potential suitor for McAtee, some Swansea based publications have touted him for a move to South Wales. It has even been thought he'll probably head to a club at either Championship or even League One level at a push.
Joining City in 2013, McAtee has quickly established himself as a very talented player in the City academy. He featured heavily in pre-season for Pep Guardiola's side, impressing many across a number of games, and will be looking to establish a spot in the first team squad, and going out on loan may be the way to do that.
McAtee's contract expires in 2023, which is not too far away now. He will be able to earn a new contract, however he may secure a big role in the first team for years to come! And it is very exciting to see how well he does if he does get the loan move. Despite Swansea's reported interest, some believe a move to the top end of League One may be right for McAtee. With Callum Doyle thriving in the North East with Sunderland, that may well be the option for McAtee!
