Cristiano Ronaldo: Etihad links begin...

Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester City, could the unimaginable become a reality?

Man City are looking for a striker of world-class talent to replace Sergio Aguero and in arguably the biggest shock, Cristiano Ronaldo has arisen as a potential. Speculation began with an astonishing IG post from Ronaldo including the cryptic message, “Decision Day".

Calciomercato first reported the link and it was unsurprisingly met with a lot of dismissal. With repeated speculation of a Gabriel Jesus summer move to Juventus, could there be the possibility of a Ronaldo-Jesus swap deal? Ronaldo is in the last year of his contract and Juventus’ financial struggles during the Covid pandemic. Jesus has had limited playing time this year for City so could the unthinkable become a reality? Let this Ronaldo quote from 2013 answer any of your questions:

"To play for City not United? I’m not going to do that. Why? Because my heart’s in Manchester United, that’s why. I can say it would be very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very difficult to play at Manchester City. Very difficult because of Manchester United." - Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juventus failed to win the Serie A title for the first time in 10 years and also failed to progress past the last 16 of the Champions League after being knocked out by Porto. To compound matters, Portugal suffered a last-16 exit to Belgium.

Cristiano Ronaldo guarantees goals and is quite able of reaching a tally of 30-40 goals next season for the current Premier League champions. The Champions League would definitely be in our grasp this year with Ronaldo’s potent scoring skills!

Real Madrid and Man United would be the favourites considering Ronaldo’s previous comments on Manchester City, a move to the blue side of Manchester very unlikely.
